I’m a longtime student of the Original Hot Yoga; I took my first
class in 2001. I started doing Hot HIIT in spring 2018.
I’ve taught various fitness classes since 1996, and I started
teaching Hot HIIT in spring 2019. My favorite exercise to teach is
definitely plank! I feel alive when I’m able to move my body freely
and with strength, and I want to pass that on to my students. When
I’m teaching, I focus on form. Once you nail that down, anything is
possible.
I love being in the hot room because everyone brings such great
energy. I also love to be challenged, and I hope I do the same
for my students. I love that lightbulb moment when a student
figures out how to do an exercise properly for the first time. I
have those moments, too. Sometimes you can do an exercise or
posture incorrectly for a long time, even years. But when I
can reach a student and help them understand something new, it’s
incredibly gratifying. I also love music, so being able to
pick songs that perfectly match a movement makes work feel like
play.
When I’m not teaching, I’m a producer/writer/editor for CBS
News. I love being outdoors and spending time with my sons. I’ve
also been training to be an Original Hot Yoga teacher, and I hope
to be ready to go by this summer!
I took my first Original Hot Yoga class in January 2003. I love
everything about taking class, but mostly how it makes me feel. In
2020 I trained at Sweat Central to become a teacher. I was inspired
to train because of self-enrichment: I considered the 49 classes
and 45 days to be a personal challenge.
I love teaching because it allows me to share my love of this
practice with others. My favorite posture to teach is Standing
Bow Pose. Fun fact: It’s also my least favorite posture to
do.
When I’m not teaching, I work as an advertising sales rep for a
beauty magazine and I’m a mom of two.
I took my first Original Hot Yoga class in 2009, when I was only
15 years old. I love the transformation, healing, and self-love
that takes place in the hot room. I wanted to create a safe space
to help heal and transform hurt bodies, minds, and hearts. In 2014
I went to teacher training, and I trained to teach Hot HIIT and Yin
Yoga in 2016. I find that all the practices complement each other
well.
I love knowing that I’m stepping onto my mat for a complete
detoxification—mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and
energetic. My favorite posture is Half Moon Pose in the Original
Hot Yoga series. Most of the intentions I set for my class are in
this pose.
Every class I teach I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere to
make everyone feel safe and comfortable so they can all blossom and
grow in their own unique ways. I love watching the
transformation of strength and growth. Triangle Pose is my
favorite posture to teach. I love the way students move with the
commands of the dialogue to create synchronized motion.
Even when I’m not in the hot room, health and fitness are both a
big part of my life. I go for a daily run in the morning and on the
weekends I enjoy taking hikes and walks with my dog and exploring
unfamiliar places. I love to use my creative side through cooking
and art.
I took my first Hot HIIT class in May 2019, and I started
teaching in December of the same year. I have a passion for fitness
and I was a college athlete and a dancer for 17 years, and I wanted
to share that passion with others.
I love taking Hot HIIT because of the strong focus on core and
glutes, maintaining proper form, and the ability to gain long and
lean muscle mass from practice.
My favorite series to teach is glute bridge! I also love pairing
the music to the movements. I want my playlists to promote a
positive and high-energy environment.
When I’m not teaching, I am a biomedical engineer at Regeneron
Pharmaceuticals, a foster mom for Best Friends Animal Society NYC,
and a certified sommelier.
Julia didn't know how to balance before she started yoga. She
was introduced to Bikram Yoga in 2007 by a friend when she ran half
marathons. Even though she started with Vinyasa and practices other
types of yoga, the Bikram Yoga hot room allows for the most
stretching. Immediately she felt yoga's other benefits: meditation,
cardio, strength building, stress reduction, and most importantly,
balance. This practice is part of her lifestyle and she went to
teacher training in L.A. in the fall of 2012. She is interested in
sharing Bikram yoga with you at the Scarsdale studio!
I took my first Original Hot Yoga class in 2009. Ten years
later, I trained to become a teacher at Sweat Central. I taught my
first class in January 2021.
I love taking class because it calms me. It’s my time for
myself, and I can either relax and feel the heat, or I can really
push myself for a good workout.
My favorite posture to teach is Standing Separate Leg Head to
Knee Pose. I love teaching because it’s a new skill in my life, and
I like to help people.
When I’m not teaching, I like spending time with my son,
running, or climbing mountains.
I took my first class in 2005 while attending college in
Massachusetts. I played college football, and the yoga was a good
way to heal. I love the sequence and moving as a group, and
sweating is the greatest detox. Taking class also allows me to
correct my posture physically, mentally, emotionally, and
spiritually. It’s very specific way to push the human body to a
limit and face your strengths and weaknesses head-on for 90
minutes.
I wanted to share this experience with others, so in 2014 I went
to teacher training. My favorite part of teaching is watching
students change during class. No matter how class turns out, as
long as you stay in the room you’ll find yourself in a different
place than when you came in—and you’ll have a better understanding
of how to approach your next class.
When I’m not teaching yoga, you can find me practicing yoga.
It’s the greatest detox that takes zero planning. It’s simple: show
up early (not on time!), breathe, and let go.
I started doing yoga in 2006, when my best friend
(now my husband of more than 10 years) brought me to my first
class. I took as many classes as I could to learn about the
different types of yoga. After a difficult and stressful first
pregnancy, I returned to my yoga practice to help me daily with the
challenges of raising a child on the Autism
spectrum.
I was inspired to go teach after my yoga teachers
started to have me help my fellow students with their postures when
the class size was bigger than usual, so I attended trainings in
2018 and 2019. I started
teaching just a few days after my trainings ended.
The best part of my practice is having a classical
voice background because to build my practice I innately understand
to be successful, not only is it essential to have proper body
alignment but it must work with proper breathing.
My favorite part of teaching is watching my
students go further than they ever thought they
could! To see the
excited look on a students face when they’ve outdone
themselves! It’s
wonderful to be able to think to myself that I was part of making
their practice awesome!
When I'm not teaching in the studio, I’m passing
on my yoga practice to my youngest child to focus on her breath to
calm the body helping her with her ADHD. I’m cooking
and baking from scratch. When we enter
spring and summer I’m growing herbs and
veggies. And of course
I’m being grateful for my time on this earth!
It was just another Tuesday in June 2003 when my friend John
Sikorjak (thank you, John) suggested I join him for a Bikram Yoga
class. I said, Sure, why not, how hard could it be to do yoga?
During my first class I was a train wreck. You’re not supposed to
leave the room, and I left the room. Water? I spent most of the
class pouring it on my head. During Standing Head to Knee Pose I
could not reach my foot. Fixed Firm? No, don’t think so. Triangle
Pose: fuggedabouit. Thanks to a patient and loving teacher, somehow
I made it through the class. I went home, poured myself into bed,
and thanked God for allowing me to survive. I woke up the next
morning and it was like a miracle: My knees felt better than they
had since high school, my back felt better, and I felt 3 inches
taller. So I went back...and went back...and went back.
There is no better feeling in the world than after a really
tough class. It feels like you are reborn and
reenergized. You can go into class feeling like an old,
broken-down 1963 Chevy, and come out as a brand-new
Maserati.
This transformational yoga helped me so much physically and
emotionally that I felt a calling to share my love of it. In fall
2010 I went to teacher training. It’s such a great feeling to
teach, coach, motivate, and inspire people and watch them help
themselves feel wonderful.
I love teaching Triangle Pose. It seems like a simple posture,
but there is a lot involved in getting it just right. It’s a
posture everyone can improve just by taking class.
When I’m not teaching or running the studio, I like to play
guitar and follow sports. I’m a big-time Yankees
fan.
I took my first Original Hot Yoga class (my first yoga class of
any kind!) around 2007. At first I hated taking class. It was hard
and I had to force myself to go, but once I was there I felt good,
especially afterward. Eventually, I started to look forward to
taking class and it became an hour-and-a-half where I could
de-stress and not think about anything else. I love taking Hot
HIIT because it is challenging but fun, and I feel so strong during
and after class.
After years of taking classes and working at the studio, the
yoga had become a big part of my life. I wanted to learn more about
it and help share it with others. My dad gave me the push I needed
to go to teacher training in 2015. I trained to be a HIIT teacher
in 2016, and Yin in 2018.
I love interacting with and helping students. Whether they are
here to heal an injury, to improve their mental health, or to get a
fun workout, I hope to lead a class that they enjoy and leave
feeling good. I also love seeing people progress in their practice
as they get stronger and reach their goals.
My favorite posture to teach (and practice) is Fixed Firm
Pose. It was my least favorite posture when I started
practicing, and I know how challenging it can be, so I like
encouraging students and helping them progress with it. I love
teaching HIIT classes because they are fun! I like finding new and
challenging exercises and putting together fun playlists.
When I’m not teaching or running the studio, I like to hang out
with my husband, son, and dog, and to travel.
I started
practicing Original Hot Yoga in 2011. I love having the time during
class to take care of myself so I can better take care of others. I
started teaching in 2016 because I wanted to be able to inspire my
students and share my love of yoga and the hot room in general. The
energy coming from my students is by far the best part of
teaching!
My favorite
posture to do in Original Hot Yoga is Camel Pose. When I’m teaching
Hot HIIT, I love leading burpees, and my favorite posture in Yin is
Pigeon Pose.
When I’m not
teaching, I work in research and marketing for lung cancer, and I’m
a full-time mom of three daughters.
